the changelog
Every change worth mentioning since the first line of code, newest first. One line each, about what it means for you rather than how it works under the hood. Two sites run off the same engine, so each entry says who it was for.
>> September 2026 3 changes
-
needmoar.games
The power search got sharper: a floor on the score (beats 25, 50, 75 or 90%), a bracket on how many people ranked a game, a platform filter, and two more sorts, "most ranked" and "newest here". The sort itself moved into the query builder with the rest of the conditions.
-
needmoar.games
New hidden gems page: games three to ten people here have ranked, none of whom put them in the bottom half of their own library. They will never reach a leaderboard, and that has nothing to do with how good they are. Filter it by tag for the flavour you are after.
-
needmoar.games
A versus page now shows the head to head record too: once two games have met in direct duels, a bar under the scores says how many each won, and whether that agrees with the verdict from everyone's rankings or turns it around.

-
needmoar.games
Your recommendations now lead with underdogs: you are placed among twelve kinds of player learned from everyone's rankings, and the shelf shows games your kind loves far more than everyone else does, that few people here have ranked at all.
-
needmoar.games
The taste twin picks are still there, one tab over on the recommendations page, and the dashboard falls back to them while your kind has no underdogs for you yet.
-
needmoar.games
The live stats page now counts games that five or more people have ranked, as its own chart next to ranked games, so you can watch the consensus grow next to the raw total.
-
needmoar.games
The press and let's play shelves on a game page are one row each now, three picks drawn from everything we have on the game, so a well covered game shows a different three from time to time.
-
needmoar.games
Game pages now have a "let's plays" shelf: videos of people playing the game, with the channel named on every tile, next to what the press wrote about it.
-
needmoar.games
The power search has a second library switch: "games i haven't really played" keeps only what you own with under an hour on the clock, for digging the backlog you forgot you bought.
-
needmoar.games
Every ranking is a real table now: most loved, most hated, most controversial, most duelled and the per tag, genre and year rankings read column by column for screen readers and for anything else parsing the page. Nothing looks different.
-
needmoar.games
A game page now opens with its score on a lit readout: what the number means, how far the bar runs and where that lands the game, all in one panel.
-
needmoar.games
The home page is the machine now: a switched-on hero with the duel loop running beside it, and all four community boards behind one high score table you flip between.
-
global
New look, everywhere: square corners, hard drop shadows, stamped mono labels and segmented bars. Both sites are built like an arcade cabinet instead of a dashboard.
-
needmoar.games
New browse page: one front door to every way the rankings can be cut, by tag, by genre, by release year and by community board, reachable from the header on every page.
-
global
Every page now ships browser security headers: no clickjacking, no content-type sniffing, and referrers trimmed on the way out.
-
global
Removed the third-party key-shop links from game pages. The only store we point at is Steam.
-
needmoar.games
The FAQ now answers the awkward question directly: yes, the person behind the site released a game on Steam, it is ranked like every other game, and his account is excluded from its numbers.
-
needmoar.games
Game pages say how fresh their numbers are, so a score nobody has duelled in weeks no longer looks like it was measured this morning.
-
needmoar.games
A game page now headlines the tag that actually describes the game ("the #1 CRPG of 2023") instead of whichever niche list it happens to top.
-
needmoar.games
Rebuilt the game page around what people come for: the score and what it means first, the charts and shelves below, all of it readable on a phone.
-
needmoar.games
Game pages link out to articles and videos written about the game.
-
needmoar.games
Press widgets: any site can now embed a game's community verdict as a badge, a bar or a score card, updated hourly. The how-to lives on the press page.
-
needmoar.games
Scores read the same everywhere now: "beats 87%" on the boards, on game pages, in your ranking and on your taste twins.
-
needmoar.games
Reorganised the home page and the footer so the leaderboards, the best-by lists and the collections are reachable from anywhere.
-
global
The public stats page groups its numbers into ranges that actually say something instead of a long even ladder.
-
needmoar.games
"Similar games you own" now leans on what the whole community pairs together, not just on shared Steam tags, so the shelf surfaces games that play alike rather than games that are labelled alike.
-
global
Links out to Steam are tagged as coming from here, so developers can see the traffic in their own dashboard.
-
needmoar.games
Game reports for developers, publishers and journalists: a written PDF plus every underlying table as CSV, all of it aggregated so no single player is identifiable.
-
global
Redesigned the stats page: the charts, the live duel feed and the retention curve each finally sit where you would look for them.
-
global
Search suggestions keep up with your typing instead of flickering between results.
-
needmoar.games
"Your taste, wrapped": a written portrait of what your ranking says about you, generated from your whole scored list, that you can save as a share card.
-
needmoar.games
Reworked the profile page. Your top games, your taste and your stats now sit on one page instead of scattered across three.
-
global
Shared links now come with a proper preview image for the game, the profile, the matchup or the board behind them.
-
global
Everything loads faster, above all the leaderboards, the best-by lists and the game pages.
-
global
DLC, soundtracks, demos, tools and other non-games are kept out of the lists, the rankings and the duels.
-
global
Vulnerability scanners hammering the site with WordPress and phpMyAdmin guesses get a cheap dead end instead of a full page, so the noise no longer slows anyone down.
-
global
A design pass over the whole site: the same spacing, colours and cards everywhere, so the pages finally look like one product instead of a dozen.
-
needmoar.games
Achievements: receipts for what you have actually done here, starting with your very first duel.
-
needmoar.games
A taste breakdown that names the tags and genres you consistently rank above the rest, and the ones you quietly bury.
-
needmoar.games
Mute a game to keep it out of your own duels. Personal, reversible, and it never touches the game's public score.
-
needmoar.games
The duel arena got stakes, a run board and live toasts, so a session of duelling reads like a run instead of a form.
-
needmoar.games
Rebuilt the dashboard around the loop: duel first, everything else one click away.
-
needmoar.games
Coverage and accuracy: see how much of your library is actually ranked and how settled that order is, and sweep the rest in one mode.
-
global
Hardened the Steam login. The "something went wrong" screen after a slow or retried login is gone.
-
needmoar.games
Power search: stack tags, exclusions and release years over the ranked catalogue, then reorder it by love, hate, controversy or your own taste neighbours.
-
global
Adult-only titles and non-game software no longer show up in lists, search or duels.
-
global
While your library imports you can already watch it fill up instead of staring at a spinner.
-
needmoar.games
A features page that lays out everything the site does, top to bottom.
-
needmoar.games
Game pages show which games you already own are closest to the one you are looking at, by tags and by taste.
-
global
Players who hide their playtime on Steam can take part too, instead of being locked out of voting.
-
needmoar.games
The duels on the home page pick smarter matchups for people who are not signed in.
-
needmoar.games
A most-recently-duelled feed, so you can see what the community is arguing about right now.

-
needmoar.games
The FAQ explains what the scores and their colours actually mean.

-
needmoar.games
Head-to-head pages: pick any two games and see which one the community actually prefers, and by how much.
-
needmoar.games
Ask an AI assistant about the rankings and it can now answer with the real numbers from here instead of a guess.
-
needmoar.games
Game pages show how a game's scores are spread across the players who ranked it, so a beloved game and a divisive one no longer look alike.
-
needmoar.games
Personal recommendations: games you do not own yet, picked from what people with your taste rank highly.
-
needmoar.games
Restyled the leaderboards, and switching between them no longer loses your place.
-
needmoar.games
Most controversial now means genuinely split opinion, not just a middling score.
-
global
A handful of games that are not on Steam (Fortnite, League of Legends, Minecraft, Valorant, World of Warcraft) can be ranked alongside the rest.
-
needmoar.games
A duel mode for completionists that hunts down the games your ranking still has nothing to say about.
-
needmoar.games
A most-duelled board for the games the community keeps putting in the ring.
-
global
Restyled the home page.
-
global
The public stats can be read over different time ranges instead of only all-time.
-
needmoar.games
Game pages show how you voted on that game yourself, next to what everyone else decided.
-
global
A pass over the whole site on mobile. Smaller screens stop being an afterthought.
-
global
A live stats dashboard that shows what is happening on the site right now.
-
global
Voting no longer reloads the page.
-
needmoar.games
Scores on public lists are held back until enough players have weighed in, so a single enthusiast can no longer park a game at the top.
-
global
Deleting your account works even after you have played duels, and it takes everything with it.
-
global
Pages are cached far more aggressively, so the site feels instant while still updating when something changes.
-
global
Public profiles, off by default. Flip one switch in the dashboard if you want a shareable page.
-
needmoar.games
Scores are expressed as a share of a library beaten ("beats 87%") instead of an abstract rating number, so the scale means something without a legend.
-
needmoar.games
A most-controversial board for the games nobody can agree on.
-
needmoar.games
Best-of pages by year and genre.
-
needmoar.games
The arena leans towards matchups that will actually tell your ranking something new.
-

Spam and abuse can be contained without the offender noticing, so cleanup no longer turns into a fight.
